Joann "Joann Meismer Teague" Teague

JoAnn Meismer Teague, 73, of Whitney passed away Thursday, April 21, 2011, in Whitney. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 26, at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church in Hillsboro with Father B. George officiating. Burial will be at 4 p.m. Tuesday at St. Roch’s Parish Cemetery in Mentz. Rosary will begin at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, April 25, followed by visitation until 9 p.m. at Marshall & Marshall Funeral Directors in Hillsboro.

JoAnn was born August 28, 1937 in Wharton to Elverda Brod Meismer and Leo Meismer. She is remembered by her family as the heart and soul of their family, and as the sweetest, kindest, and most giving person to touch their lives.

On November 20, 1955 she married Gene A. Teague. They lived in many different places over the years, but kept coming back to their old hometown of El Campo. In 1979 they finally settled in Arlington where they spent the next 22 years. JoAnn worked as a secretary for the El Campo Independent School District and later for the Arlington School District, from which she retired. In September 2001, she and Gene moved outside Whitney where they were very happy. JoAnn was a faithful, active participant in her church and volunteered at Hill Regional Hospital.

Preceding her in death were her parents and a brother, James.

Survivors include her husband, Gene, of Whitney; three children, Ken Teague of Dallas, Renee Teague and fiancé, Quinton, of Noble, OK, and Bryan Teague and wife, Sharon, of Georgetown; three grandchildren, Lindsay McGregor and husband, Clay, of Norman, OK, and Joshua and Ashley Teague both of Georgetown; two great-grandchildren, Baylee and Brayden McGregor both of Norman, OK; two brothers, Charles Meismer and wife, Georgeanna, of Victoria, and Michael Meismer and wife, Glenda, of La Grange; sister-in-law, Claudia Meismer, of Hallettsville; numerous nieces and nephews; and many friends all over the country.
