Joe W. Allison, 73, of Covington passed away at his home on Saturday, March 8, 2014. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 12, 2014, at Marshall & Marshall Funeral Directors Chapel in Hillsboro with Rev. Leah Hidde-Gregory officiating. Burial will follow at Rio Vista Cemetery in Rio Vista. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 11, 2014, at the funeral home.

On September 17, 1940, Joe was born to Jasper Lee and Cue Bell (Stacey) Allison in Cleburne. He married Mable Wilson on April 16, 1960 in Covington. Beginning in 1978, he began a custom hay baling business which he continued to operate until his retirement in 1994. Always outgoing, Joe enjoyed going dancing with his wife and friends at the Moose Lodge in Lakeside Village and the Elk’s Lodge in Cleburne.

As an avid Texas Ranger and Dallas Cowboy fan, he enjoyed the good times and endured the bad times of his two favorite teams. At Christmas time, he took delight in scratching lottery tickets with his adoring grandchildren. And when there was time, he also liked to relax with a little fishing.

Joe was a member of the Covington United Methodist Church.

Preceding him in death were his parents; a brother, Gordon Lee Allison; a sister, Mary Allison; and a grandson, Joey Allison.

Left to cherish his memory are his loving and caring wife, Mable Allison of Covington; two children, Teresa Rodecker and husband, Ronnie, and Joe Allison and wife, Melissa, all of Covington; a brother, Douglas Allison and wife, Maryanne of Covington; three sisters, Jane West of Irving, Joni Monroe and husband, Robert, of Covington, and Debra Fryer and husband, Glen, of Tyler; three grandchildren, Erin Stinmenteze of Covington, Kyle Rodecker and wife, Ashlee, of Joshua, and Sara Allison of Hillsboro; and four great-grandchildren, Wesley and Aiden Stinmenteze of Covington, Charlee Rodecker of Joshua, and Zaden Elmore of Hillsboro.
