Joe Daniel

Joe Daniel, 79, of Hillsboro passed away Wednesday, December 17, 2014, at his residence. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, December 20, 2014, at Marshall & Marshall Funeral Directors Chapel in Hillsboro with Rev. Danny Gilliam officiating. Burial will follow at Bell Springs Cemetery near Bynum. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Friday, December 19, 2014, at the funeral home.

Born May 19, 1935 in the Rienzi Community in Hill County, he was the son of W. P. and Mattie (Horn) Daniel. He attended grammar school in Malone and graduated from Bynum High School. On June 4, 1955, he was united in marriage to Mary Sue Fourtner. She preceded him in death on January 26, 1995. Joe was employed at Republic Bank for 3 years before joining Southwestern Bell. He retired from Southwestern Bell on December 31, 1991 after 35 years of service, the last 13 of which he served as manager of the Hillsboro office. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Hillsboro, and also an over 50 member of the Masonic Lodge and over 30 year member of the Hillsboro Lions Club. Also preceding him in death were his parents and a son, Michael Joe Daniel.

Survivors include his daughter, Teri Pederson of Fort Worth; brother, Robert Daniel of Hillsboro; three grandchildren, Brandon Pederson of Fort Worth, Sarah Pederson of New Zealand, and Colleen Stepherson and husband, Casey, of Harleton; great-granddaughter, Laura Mae Stepherson; and numerous nieces and nephews.
