Joe was born February 13, 1926 in Zimmerman, LA, in the country, to Jack, Sr. and Lena (Pace) LaCour. As a young man, he worked at the saw mill and picked cotton. He enlisted in the United States Army and served in the calvary and infantry. He served in a number of Asian countries before being stationed in China. Not long after his discharge from the military, Joe married Margaret Cupples on April 5, 1947 in Colfax, LA. In 1952, the couple moved to the DFW metroplex, settling in Arlington until moving to Hillsboro in 1991.

He loved gardening, both flowers and vegetables. While living in Arlington, Joe was recognized for House and Yard of The Month and TV stations would often use his Christmas decorations as a back drop. Handy with his hands, he took wood working training after the service and was always building things. Joe was a very active member of First United Pentecostal Church in Hillsboro.

Preceding him in death were his parents; son, Joe LaCour, Jr.; two brothers; and one sister.

Survivors include his wife of 68 years, Margaret LaCour of Hillsboro; two sons, Jerry LaCour and wife, Brenda, of Milford and Darrell LaCour and wife, Vovo, of Red Oak; daughters-in-law; Diann LaCour and Kristi LaCour, both of Arlington and Darlene LaCour of Hillsboro; two brothers, Herman LaCour and Sammy LaCour of Dallas; five grandchildren, Jamie LaCour Christensen, Austin LaCour, Chris LaCour, Aimee Rodriguez, and Keith LaCour; two step-grandchildren, Calvin Balch and Amber Villarreal; eight great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family.
