Joe Edd Reinert, 92 of Hillsboro passed away Friday evening, September 6, 2013 at Town Hall Estates in Hillsboro with his loved ones by his side. Funeral services will be at 1:00 PM, Monday, September 9, 2013 at the Marshall & Marshall Chapel in Hillsboro with Rev. Derrell Surface of the First Assembly of God Church officiating. Burial will follow at Ridge Park Cemetery in Hillsboro. Visitation will be from 4:00-6:00 PM, Sunday at Marshall & Marshall Funeral Directors in Hillsboro.
Joe was born April, 13, 1921 to John Honnis and Ada Rhoda (Keeton) Reinert in the Yates Community. He lived there through his early years and attended school in Yates. The family moved to Woodbury, where he also attended school, before settling in Hillsboro, where he lived the rest of his life.
On August 2, 1941, he married Daisy Watson in Whitney. The couple shared 72 happy years together and had two children, four grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
For several years he worked at the Hillsboro bakery before serving in the Navy for two years during World War II. Following the war, he went to work for the Texas Highway Department, where he remained until his retirement in 1977.
Joe was pretty much a homebody, but always managed to stay busy at whatever his hands could find to do. He was a 50 year Mason and a member of the Pentecostal faith.
Preceding him in death were his parents; two brothers, Romaine and Thomas James Reinert; and
one sister, Mildred Adcock.
Survivors include his wife, Daisy Reinert of Hillsboro; two children, Sandra Guffy and husband, Joe Harold of San Antonio and Larry Don Reinert of Whitney; two sisters, Elsie Vergauwen of Wichita Falls and Bonnie Biddle of White House; 4 grandchildren, Joey Guffy and wife, Marilyn of Beckley, West Virginia, Jim Guffy and wife, Patti of Krum, Julie Swinney and husband, Tim of San Antonio, and Nina Reinert of Dallas; and 10 great-grandchildren, Noah, Jordan, Molly, Gage, Miranda, Madeline, Adam, Eryn, Claire, and Ella.
