Joe D Shaw, born on January 6, 1947, in Fort Worth, Texas, passed away on June 5, 2023, at the age of 76. He was the cherished son of Vernon and Connie Shaw and grew up in Samson Park, Texas, surrounded by his loving family. From an early age, Joe developed a passion for baseball and spent countless hours enjoying the sport with his brother and friends.
After graduating from high school, Joe answered the call to serve his country and joined the United States Navy. In April 1967, he embarked on his first submarine, the USS Lewis and Clark, beginning a distinguished 20-year career as a submariner. Joe was immensely proud of his service and carried his veteran status with honor. In the fall of 1987, he retired from the Navy and transitioned into civilian life.
Joe ventured into entrepreneurship and successfully ran his own business for several years. Later, he joined Tandy Corporation, Microsoft Corporation, and the City of Arlington, utilizing his skills as a systems and network administrator. Unfortunately, Joe's journey took an unexpected turn when he experienced a stroke in 2013, leading to his retirement. Undeterred, he pursued his passion for custom design and continued to run a small business from his home with his wife.
On June 5, 2023, Joe, having valiantly battled dementia, peacefully embarked on his final journey, reuniting with our Lord and Savior. He leaves behind a void that will be deeply felt by his beloved wife, Sharon Shaw, his daughter Vana (Shaw) Stines and son-in-law Chris Stines; his stepson and wife, Brian and Amy Hull, and stepson, Tony Hull; his grandchildren, Ethan and Emily, and step-grandchildren, Destany and Sebastian Hull, and Conner, Kady, Cooper, and Kerigan Stines. Additionally, he will be dearly missed by his brother and wife, Ralph and Cindy Shaw, and his nieces Stefanie (Shaw) O'Connell, Joni (Shaw) Smith, and Lacy (Shaw) Nichols.
Joe will be remembered as a man whose presence left a lasting impact on the lives of those he encountered. His unwavering love for family, his profound patriotism, and his deep respect for the military will forever be etched in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
As we bid farewell to Joe, may he find eternal peace, and may his memory serve as a blessing to all who were fortunate enough to have shared in his journey.
