Joe Vinson

Joe Bob Vinson, 91, of Whitney passed away at his residence on January 25, 2006. He was the son of Alvin and Amy Bean Vinson. Joe Bob had lived in Whitney all of his life and graduated from Whitney High School. He served in the Army Air Corp during World War II. On December, 15, 1937, he married Lillian Gant. He was co-owner of Vinson?s Flowers and Gifts for 38 years and was a rancher. He was past president of the Whitney Independent School Board; was active in civic organization; and a member of Laguna Park Church of Christ. Preceding him in death were his parents; infant son, Bobby Joe; 4 sisters, Odell Ripley, Willie Waits, Lois Rose, Ollie Merle Stevenson; 4 brothers, Orval, J. H., Talbot, and Ralph Vinson. Survivors include his wife, Lillian of Whitney; children, Joseph Robert Roby Vinson and wife, Stella of Whitney, Harold Kenton Vinson and wife, Della of Whitney, daughter-in-law: Kaye Peters of Lewisville; 3 grandsons, Robert Cory , Ken L., and Clint J. Vinson; 6 great grandchildren, Tanner, Tyler, Garrett, Zachary, Coby and Bailey Ann Vinson; sister-in-law, Myrtie Vinson Allen.
