Joe M. Worley passed away on November 22, 2004 at his residence. He was the son of Riley D. and Molcy Findley Worley. He was raised in the western part of Texas in Crosbyton, County. He and a friend were the first to volunteer to serve in World War II from Crosbyton, County. He served in the U S Navy Armed Guard Division in the Pacific Theater for the duration of the war. Joe moved back to Whitney and later married Karon Harris. He was a foreman in public utilities. He was a member of Cedar Creek Baptist Church in Whitney, VFW Post # 8571, director of the Whitney Area Museum, past director of the Bethlehem Associaton and served in the past as a volunteer fireman. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Ted Worley, C. E. Worley, Bill Worley, Cecil Worley, Dan Worley; sisters, Morie Chumbly and Alice Jackson. Survivors inlcude his wife, Karon of Whitney, daughters, Vickie Jo Worley Swain of Stephenville, Rene' Worley Dendy and husband, Rick of Whitney; brother, Bob Worley and wife, Linda of Whitney; sisters, Naomi Peyton and husband, Bill of Republic, MO., Daisy Trimble of Cucamonga, CA., granddaughters, Kam Dion Kautz, Karli Breck Kautz; grandsons, Zachery Swain and wife, Melanie, Shane Dendy and wife, Charlsie and great grandson, Ethan Dendy.
