Joel Lewis Walker, 76, of Hillsboro passed away March 25, 2019, at Homestead and Nursing Rehab in Hillsboro. Memorial visitation with the family will be 1 - 3 p.m. Sunday, March 31, 2019, at Marshall and Marshall Funeral Directors in Hillsboro.

Joel was born in Hillsboro August 27, 1943, to Buck and Bessie Walker. Joel graduated from Hillsboro High School in 1961. Afterwards, he joined the National Guard. Joel attended Barber School and had owned and operated his shop for 57 years in Hillsboro. He married Joyce Conger on January 2, 1962. He was an avid golfer and loved the Dallas Cowboys and Texas Longhorns.

He is preceded in death by his son, Todd; parents, Buck and Bessie; and brother, Clyde (Pete) Walker.

Joel is survived by his wife of 57 years, Joyce; daughter, Ginger Vargas and husband, Carlos; grandson, Ryan Vargas; sisters-in-law, Loretta Walker, Sue Farmer and husband, Ronnie, LaNora Keeton and husband, Ronnie, all of Ft. Worth, Gayle Gilcrease and husband, Steve, of Allen; brothers-in-law, Buddy Conger of Crowly and Ronnie Conger and wife, Joyce of Burleson; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

The Walker family would like to express their appreciation to the Staff, Nurses, and CNA's of Homestead for the loving care he received over his 10 years stay.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Hillsboro Baseball Association, P.O. Box 1626, Hillsboro, TX 76645 or the Cancer Association, 1700 Lake Success Dr. Waco, TX 76710.
