John Basye

John Basye, 54, of Itasca passed away Monday, April 27, 2015, at St. Catherine Center in Waco. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, April 30, 2015, at Central Baptist Church in Itasca with Mr. Wayne Norsworthy and Rev. Barron Harris officiating. Burial will follow at Itasca Cemetery in Itasca. Visitation will be from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 29, at Marshall and Marshall Funeral Directors in Hillsboro.

John was born on January 17, 1961, in Milford to Gene and Floy B. (Pyburn) Basye. He was raised in Itasca where he farmed for 22 years for James and June Henderson. He also farmed his own land and raised many different kinds of animals. On August 8, 1981, he was united in marriage to Melinda Dotson. In 1997, he went to work for El Dorado Chemical where he was plant manager. An avid hunter and fisherman, John also loved to garden and grow things. He never met a stranger and was always willing to help anybody. He was a member of Loveview Baptist Church in the Loveview Community. Preceding him in death was his father.

Survivors include his wife of 33 years, Melinda L. Basye of Itasca; mother, Floy B. Basye of Itasca; three children, Megan Lynn Basye and Ruben Littlejohn of Itasca, Emily LeAnn Basye and Eric Garcia of Waco, and Justin Derek Basye of Itasca; three brothers, Gary Basye and Kim Stamper of Woodbury, Mike Basye and wife, Theresa, of Hillsboro, and Kevin Basye and wife, Lori, of Burleson; two sisters, Cathy Farquhar and husband, Danny, and Nell Erwin and husband, Steve, all of Hillsboro; three grandchildren, Caden Lee Littlejohn, Riley LeAnn Littlejohn, and Kyndal Brooke Littlejohn, all of Itasca; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
