John Richard "Rick" Edmondson was born February 3, 1947 in Mineral Wells, Texas to John Reece and Ella Morine (Harman) Edmondson. His fondest childhood memories were in Palo Pinto County at lively family gatherings that included his grandparents, aunts and uncles and he most especially enjoyed playing with his first cousins.
Rick's father became the foreman of a ranch in Flower Mound, Texas. His family built him a home there and he attended school in nearby Lewisville where he made many lifelong friends. The Vietnam War pulled Rick away from home to the seas. He was trained as an airplane mechanic and proudly served in the Navy on the carrier USS Ranger. Upon his return home, he lost his father at the age of 22 and his mother at 25. He met Sherry in 1971 and instantly made Lisa his daughter. After their marriage, a son was conceived but died at birth in 1972. His daughter, Casey LeJon, was born in 1973.
Rick enjoyed many different kinds of jobs in his lifetime including semi truck driving/mechanic, landscaper, auto parts salesman, but his favorite was working on the heads-up display on the F-16 fighter at General Dynamics.
In 1997, he met his wife Cathy and was blessed to become "Dad" to Katie and Thomas.
Rick enjoyed life to the fullest with his love of fishing, hunting, reading, playing cards, and spending time with friends and family. He was happiest being Grandpa to Ricky, Matthew, Brianna, Riley and Sarah.
Rick passed away peacefully on November 14th with Cathy by his side.
