John Farrell


John was born in Dallas on June 21, 1933. He graduated from Dallas? Sunset High School in 1950 and from Texas A&M in 1954, where he was a proud member of the Corp of Cadets and Ross Volunteers. In June of 1954, he began working for Republic National Bank in Dallas, but took time out to serve as a Guided Missile Unit Commander in the US Army where he rose to the rank of Second Lieutenant. After leaving active duty, John resumed his employment at Republic Bank but remained a commissioned officer in the Army Reserves until 1962. John worked for Republic National Bank for 34 years in the area of bank operations and computer systems rising to the position of Senior Vice President. Following his retirement in 1988, he relocated to Lakeside Village where he became an avid hunter and fisherman. He also spent his retirement being a devoted grandfather to his grandchildren. John was a devoted son, brother, husband, father, grandfather and friend. He was a member of Cliff Temple Baptist Church in Dallas and more recently found his spiritual home and many loving friends at the Open Range Cowboy Church in Whitney. John has been a practicing member of Alcoholics Anonymous since 1982 where he found peace and healing in his sobriety. John was proceeded in death by his parents JC and Georgia Farrell and his first wife, Elnora Weckter Farrell. John will be greatly missed by his family and friends. However, they take comfort in the fact that he fought a courageous battle but now his struggle is over. They are also reassured that he will remain always and forever in their hearts and ?in their corner?. Survivors: Wife, Linda of Lakeside Village; sister, Betty with husband Eddie Pelt of Dallas; son, John C. Farrell, Jr. Curt of Meridian; daughter, Tamara McKean of Andale, KS; stepdaughters Renee Mynar with husband Joe of Kopperl and Michelle Totzke of Lyndale; stepsons, Scott Rudel of Arlington and Mike Rudel of Richmond; grandsons, Justin Farrell of Wylie, George and Kevin Shannon, Thomas and John McKean all of Andale, KS; step grandchildren, Kyle Mynar of Martindale, Logan Mynar of Kopperl, Summer and Skyler Totzke of Flower Mound. Memorials: Bluebonnet Hospice and Home Care. 307 Londonderry Dr. Waco, Tx 76712.
