John Gibson, Jr

John Walter Gibson, Jr., 69, of Laguna Park, passed away on March 25, 2015 at a Clifton hospital. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, March 28, 2015, at Marshall and Marshall Funeral Directors in Whitney with Mr. Kenneth McClintock officiating. Burial will follow at George’s Creek Cemetery in Glen Rose between 3 and 4 PM. Visitation will be held from 6-8 PM on Friday, March 27, 2015, at the funeral home.

John was born on April 16, 1945, in McAllen, to the late John Walter Gibson, Sr., and Mildred Eleanor (Frank) Gibson. On November 9, 1968, he married Linda Hughes in Dallas. As an assembly worker, he worked for General Motors in Arlington for over 30 years before retiring in l993 and he had lived in Laguna Park for the past 18 years. He enjoyed fishing and hunting.

He was a member of New Prospect Baptist Church in Glen Rose.

Survivors include his wife, Linda Gibson of Laguna Park; children, Tami Vacek and husband, Gary, of Palacios, Tony Brown of Pledger, Danny Gibson of Venus, Eddie Gibson of Rowlett and Jennifer Gibson of Glen Rose; and a brother, Charles Gibson; 13 grandchildren, Hannah Aguilar, David Aguilar, Ryan Adams, Jamee Brown, Matthew Brown, David Brown and Meranda Brown, Brendon Gibson, Britney Gibson, Lindsey Gibson, Cody Apodaca, Dustin Apodaca and Colton Hardie; 11 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
