John Huddleston

John Huddleston


John was born August 27, 1923 in Bisbee, Arizona to Ashley Strange and Mildred McGermott Huddleston. On December 4, 1948 he married Gertrude Walters in Weatherford. He served in the U. S. Navy and was stationed at Pearl Harbor during the time of the attack on December 7, 1941. He later enlisted in the U. S. Army Air Corp and retired from the U. S. Air Force as a M/Sgt on May 31, 1963. During his military service he received the Air Force Outstanding Unit Award, Good Conduct Medal with one Silver Loop, American Defense Service Medal, American Campaign Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal with one Battle Star, World War II Victory Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Korean Service Medal, Air Force Longevity Service Award Ribbon with 4 Bronze Oak Leaf Clusters, and United Nations Service Medal. He worked as a tech writer for LTV before moving to Whitney in 1976, where he was a rancher until 1993. He attended First Presbyterian Church in Hillsboro and was a member of Julian Field Lodge #908 AF & AM in Fort Worth, Crape Myrtle Chapter #163 O.E.S. in Albany, GA, and Disabled American Veterans. Survivors include wife, Trudy Huddleston of Hillsboro; one sister, Mildred Arndt of Seal Beach, CA; one sister-in-law, Mae Moses of Red Oak; and several nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church Building Fund, P. O. Box 635, Hillsboro, TX 76645 or the charity of your choice.
