John Gilbert Jimenez, 83, of Frankston, Texas, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family and close friends, Benny and Janie Hernandez, Monday, August 15, 2022. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am, Friday, August 19, 2022, at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Abbott, Texas. Rosary will be recited at 6:00 pm, Thursday, August 18, 2022, at Marshall and Marshall Funeral Directors Chapel in Hillsboro, followed by visitation until 8:00 pm. Interment will follow at Our Lady of Fatima Cemetery in Abbott, Texas.
He was born October 26, 1938, to Cirilo and Ramona (Aguilera) Jimenez, in Hillsboro, Texas. John worked for TU Electric for thirty-five years as a crew supervisor, retiring in 1992. After retiring from TU, he then went to work for Hillsboro Alternative School, retiring in 1998. He was a member of Knights of Columbus, fourth degree and St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, in Frankston, Texas. John was a man of all trades and enjoyed fishing, hunting, traveling and carpentry work. He was united in marriage to Patricia Sandoval on August 8, 1959, in Fort Worth, Texas. Together with his loving wife and best friend of sixty-three years, Patricia, he raised three children, providing unconditional love and care that was unwavering. His children never feared, even when they made mistakes. John instilled in each of his children the importance of striving to be a better person. He always set expectations for behavior as well as to always remember where they came from and their last name, “Jimenez,” and to carry themselves every day, knowing what that name means to the family.
John is preceded in death by his parents, Cirilo and Ramona Jimenez; and three brothers, Jessie Jimenez, Fred Jimenez and Armando Jimenez. He leaves behind his loving wife and best friend, Patricia Jimenez; his children, Lisa Ann Reynolds, Yolando Jo Stewart (Richard), and John Paul Jimenez; his grandchildren, Rion Allen Gonzales, Amanda Gonzales, Christina Kellogg (William), John Dillard Stewart (Ashlyn), Chase Stewart (Samantha), John Riley Jimenez, and Briley Jimenez; twenty great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Lucille Higgins and Ramona Kosica.
