John Leath


John Blake Leath, 90, of Whitney passed away on April 12, 2008 in Waco. He was the son of John E. and Stella Kelly Leath. He grew up in the Handley area of Tarrant County. He graduated from Handley High School in 1935 and married Mary Thompson in 1937. He joined the US Navy in 1943 and served during World War II. He worked for the US Soil Consveration Service for 30 years before retiring in 1979. He moved to Whitney in 2007 after living in Temple for 40 years. He was a membr of Whitney Masonic Lodge # 355 and Handley Masonic Lodge #1140. Prededing him in death were his parents and brother, Ken Leath. Survivors include his wife, Mary; daughter and son-in-law, Jane and Vic Mohon; grandchildren, Jill Day and husband, Rory of Fort Worth, Jamie Casey and husband, Leroy of Robert Lee; great grandchildren, Megan Day, Justin Hewitt, Blake Hewitt, Nathan Day, Kelsey Hewitt and Katherin Day.
