John "Jack" Tieben, 72, of Whitney was born in San Francisco, California on January 20, 1932. He was the son of John Lambert and Edna Bettie Kite Tieben. He was raised in Ohio, then moved to California and attended school there. He was an Eagle Scout and entered the United States Army at age 17. He returned after serving in Korea to California where he lived for many years. His job enabled him to travel and work in many of the western states. He was an avid outdoorsman and hunter. A man of many talents, he worked with leather, enjoyed doing bead work and reading. He was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include his children, Cynthia Saucedo and husband, Albert of Prairie Hill, TX., Cheryl Tieben of Springfield, OR., John Kite Tieben, II and wife, Gayle of Goshen, Utah; brothers, Richard Tieben and wife, Karen of Carson City, Nev., Marc Tieben and wife, Judy of Las Vegas, Nev., sisters, Barbara Morrow and husband, Charles of Carson City, Nev., Betsy Ratner of Wofford Heights, CA.; grandson, John Kite Tieben, III of Goshen, Utah and several nieces and nephews.
