John West

John West, 87, of Southlake, formerly of Hillsboro, passed away Wednesday, February 23, 2005, at Baylor Hospital in Grapevine. John was born November 8, 1917 in Hamilton, Texas the son of Benjamin B. and Lizzie Applewhite West. After growing up in Hamilton, he moved to Evant as a young man where he graduated from Evant High School. In September 1938 he married Erna Ising. He worked as a mechanic in Evant and moved to Lubbock where he had his own shop and then went into the Food Brokerage Business for 12 years. He later moved to Peoria and Hillsboro and worked for the copper plant for about 10 or 12 years, before retiring in the 1980's. He was of the Church of Christ faith. Preceding him in death were his parents; two brothers, S. D. West and Irving West; and one sister, Leota Broyles. Survivors include his wife, Erna West of Southlake; his son, J. B. West and wife, Barbara, of Southlake; five grandchildren, John & Suzanne West of North Richland Hills, Stephen & Pam West of Euless, Jeanette & Dr. Gary Golden of Hemphill, Terri & Nick Vester of Haslet, and Kevin & Georgia Kurtz of Temple; and ten great-grandchildren.
