Johnny Whitehead went to his forever home on November 4, 2020. A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 7, 2020, at Bethlehem Cemetery under the direction of Marshall and Marshall Funeral Directors in Whitney with Brother Eddie Booth officiating.
Johnny was born in San Saba, Texas, on June 23, 1951, to Herman and Lila Beth Whitehead. He had 5 brothers and sisters. He worked with his dad in the construction business for many years, then went on to be a welder for Cleburne Railroad and Comanche Peak nuclear power plant.
He met his wife, Donna, in Whitney in 1966 and they married in 1970. Johnny and Donna celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on September 16, 2020.
An avid fisherman and hunter, Johnny could always be found at the lake, the river, or a hunting lease. He was a member of the National Guard and was a paratrooper and was awarded “Jump Master” for his great ability. He was also a proud member of the Lake Whitney Masonic Lodge where he earned his 32nd degree.
Johnny was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Some of his greatest joys were helping coach his kids’ baseball teams and watching his grandchildren’s sporting events.
He was preceded in death by his father, Herman Whitehead and mother Lila Beth Whitehead; a brother Charles Douglas Whitehead; and a sister, Patricia Beth Hunt.
Survivors include his wife, Donna Whitehead; son, Brandon Whitehead and wife, Cindy; daughter, Danielle Richardson and husband, John; grandchildren, Morgan and husband, Aaron, Laney, Easton, Levi, and Bynlie; great-grandchild, Kayson; brothers, Tommy Whitehead and Jerry Whitehead and wife, Susie; sister, Mary Hilburn and Kirk Sims; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
“God didn’t promise days without pain, laughter without sorrow, or sun without rain, but he did promise strength for the day, comfort the tears and a light for the way.”
