Johnny Washington Anthony, Jr.

Johnny Washington Anthony, Jr., 76, of Whitney, passed away on March 26, 2020, in Temple.   He will lie-in-state from 9:00 a.m until 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 31, 2020 at Marshall and Marshall Funeral Directors in Whitney.   Private family services will be held later.

Johnny was born on December 21, 1943, in Hamilton, Texas to Johnny W. Anthony, Sr. and Ruby (Burch) Anthony.     On July 17, 1970, he married Sharon Smith in Dallas.

Johnny served his country in the United States Navy for seven and a half years.   He had a great work ethic and was always a hard worker throughout his life.

As much as he loved to fish, play dominos and dance, his favorite and most loved pastime was that with his children and grandchildren.

Preceding him in death was his father, Johnny Washington Anthony, Sr. and a daughter, Deanna Jones.

Survivors include his wife, Sharon Anthony; his mother, Ruby Anthony; children, Karen DeSoto, David Miller and James Anthony; ten grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren; and sisters, Doris Johnson, Mary Flournoy, and Betty Mikeska.

Memorials may be made to the Whitney Veterans Memorial Park, Whitney, Texas 76692.
