Jolene Franklin, 72, of Whitney passed away on April 28, 2011 at her residence.

Graveside Services will be held at 2:00 PM, Monday, May 2, 2011 at Blum Cemetery in Blum, Texas. Visitation with the family will ve from 5:00 - 7:00 PM Sunday at Marshall and Marshall Funeral Directors in Whitney.

Jolene was born on February 5, 1939 in Covington; the daughter of the late William Jerry and Fannie Lee (Gray) Elmore. She grew up in Blum and played basketball at Blum High School.

On August 27, 1960 she married Travis Raymon Franklin in Weatherford. They lived in Fort Worth and Crowley before moving to Whitney in 1970 and ran a general store off of FM 2604. She later managed the Dairy Queen in Whitney for a few years. Jolene also worked as a seamstress and a nurses aide.

She was very dedicated to her family and loved to cook for them and work in her garden. She also loved her cat Tutu. She was of the Baptist faith.

Also preceding her in death were three brothers, Billy Ray, Jerry, Darrell Elmore.

Survivors include her husband, Travis of Whitney; children, Karan Carter of Whitney, Denise Day and husband Troy of Laguna Park, T. R. Franklin of Whitney; brothers, Jessy Elmore and wife Inetta of Cleburne, Rickey Elmore and wife Jan of Springtown; 2 grandchildren, Jason Carter of Kerrville, Rachel Reeves of Laguna Park; great grandson, Jacob Liam Reeves of Laguna Park; a number of nieces, nephews and extended family.
