Biography

Jose “Joe” Angel Ybarra, 39, of Hillsboro passed away Thursday afternoon, January 11, 2018, at his residence. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, January 15, 2018, at Marshall & Marshall Funeral Directors Chapel in Hillsboro with Rev. Ernest Whitfield officiating. Burial will follow at Frost Cemetery. Mr. Ybarra will lie in state Sunday, January 14, beginning at 9:00 a.m. and a Rosary will be recited at 6:00 p.m. by Mr. Vernon Markwardt at the funeral home.

Born June 27, 1978 in West, he was the son of Ambrocio, Jr. and Gloria (Perez) Ybarra. He grew up in Frost and finished his last two years of school in Hillsboro, where he graduated. On August 28, 2008, Joe was united in marriage to Melissa Remmey.

He worked in the local fast food business. In his spare time, Joe loved to play games on his phone and spend time with his girls. He was a collector of Hot Wheels. He was a member of Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church in Hillsboro.

Preceding him in death was his father.

Survivors include his wife, Melissa Ybarra of Hillsboro; mother, Gloria Ybarra of Hillsboro; daughter, Ebany Menchaca of Hillsboro; sister, Julie Avila and husband, Albert, of Jewett; and seven nieces and nephews, Jose Carlos “JC” Fuentes, Efren Fuentes, Adrian Avila, Jacob Chavez, Jazzlyn Chavez, Haven Jordon, and Zoe Coleman.
