Josephine "Jo" Smith

Josephine "Jo" Smith was born on November 13, 1919 in Axtell, TX to James Richard and Leither America Lyon Miller. She married Sam Henry Smith on January 31, 1946 in Dallas, TX and he preceded her in death on July 26, 1994. She had lived most of her life in Dallas and retired to Whitney 20 years ago. She had worked as a records clerk for Southwestern Bell for 25 years. She was a member of Whitney Church of Christ, Whitney Eastern Star and did volunteer work for Park Plaza Nursing Home. She was also preceded in death by brothers, Thomas W. Miller, Buford A. Miller and Roscoe Miller. Survivors include her sister-in-law, Adaline Miller of Plano; niece, Linda Kay Cheek and husband, Roger of Plano; great nephews; Scott Cheek and wife, Lee Ann of Dallas, Corey Cheek of Dallas; great great nephew, Carson Cheek; great great niece, Riley Anne Cheek and half brother, Buster Carpenter of Dallas.
