Joyce Tidwell

Joyce Edwards Tidwell, 72, of Mercedes, Texas died Wednesday, January 17, 2007, at her residence. Joyce was born January 30, 1934 in Terrell, Texas. She was a long-time teacher and librarian. She began her teaching career in Harlingen in 1959, and then taught in Garland, Cedar Hill, and Grand Prairie. She continued her teaching career in Mercedes beginning in 1970. She retired in 1995 from Taylor Elementary School, Mercedes, where she had been school librarian for several years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Dwayne Tidwell; son, Charles Terry Tidwell; and her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Edwards. Survivors include four brothers-in-law, Charles Tidwell of Fort Meyers, FL, Ed Tidwell and wife, Gloria, of Norman, OK, Arthur Tidwell and wife, Libby, of Denton, and Clarence Tidwell of Raymondville; and a host of loving friends. Memorials may be made to the Taylor Elementary School Library in Mercedes, Texas.
