J.P. (James) Patrick Littlejohn

J.P. Littlejohn passed away peacefully January 28, 2022, in Katy, Texas at the age of 92. He was born in Irene, Texas on February 7, 1929, to Oliver Porter and Mittie Belle Littlejohn.

J.P. proudly served in the United States Air Force for 4 years. Then he used his GI bill to attend and graduate from University of Houston in 1959, with a Business Administration degree. J.P. was employed with Exxon for 35 years, retiring in 1992.

J.P. was a faithful member of Westminster United Methodist Church for 57 years. He was a volunteer and Lifetime Member of the Houston Livestock and Show and Rodeo for 27 years, serving on several committees. He also volunteered for the Bellaire Police Department for 30 years. He earned the following awards – Bellaire Police Appreciation 1996, Bellaire Police and Bellaire Community Dedicated Service Award 2003, Bellaire Police Outstanding Volunteer 2013, Bellaire Police Certificate of Recognition for 20+ years of service 2014. J.P. was also a longtime supporter of Sheriffs Association, NRA Legion of Honor, and 100 Club supporter for decades.

He is preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Sterling, Ralph, Ruth, and Oliver.

J.P. is survived by his children, Sandy Littlejohn, Susie Thornton (Bill), and Larry Littlejohn (Nancy). His grandchildren, Josh Davis (Sara), Cali Littlejohn, Lauren Littlejohn, and Brent Thornton (Mindy) and several great grandchildren.

Interment will be at the Littlejohn family plot at Salem Irene Cemetery in Irene, Texas February 9, 2022, at 2:00 PM with full military honors.

A memorial service with be held at Westminster United Methodist Church at 5801 San Felipe, Houston, Texas 77057 on February 12, 2022, at 11:00 AM.  A reception will follow.
