Juan Ybarra

Juan Ybarra, 87, of Hillsboro died Thursday, November 26, 2009, at Homestead Heritage Nursing Home in Hillsboro. Mr. Ybarra will lie in state starting at 9 a.m. Saturday morning, November 28, at the funeral home. Juan was born August 21, 1922 in Tuleta, TX the son of Thomas and Hilda Colunga Ybarra. He grew up in Beeville and married Melchora Salazar. After his wifes death in 1959, he moved to Frost where he worked on a farm for sixteen years. He later moved to Italy, where he worked for years, before moving to Hillsboro in 1998. He was of the Catholic faith. Also preceding him in death were his parents, two sons, five brothers, and two sisters. Survivors include five children, Elena Sanchez and husband, George, of El Paso, Domingo Ybarra of Hillsboro, Angelita Ybarra of Hillsboro, Ramon Ybarra and wife, Annie, of Commerce, and Juan Ybarra, Jr. of Mesquite; brother, Joe Ybarra of Beeville; 11 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
