Juanita Brown

Juanita Brown, 60, of Whitney passed away Monday, June 12, 2017, at Town Hall Estate Nursing Home in Whitney. Memorial graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 21, 2017, at Whitney Memorial Park with Dr. Allan Lane of Fort Graham Baptist Church officiating.

Born July 2, 1956 in Fort Worth, she was the daughter of John Lopez and Mary Katherine (Wyman) Reyes. Following her graduation from O. D. Wyatt High School in 1974, Juanita went to work as a braider operator for Stratoflex in Mansfield. She was later employed by MHMR as a social worker until her retirement in 1995. Juanita had been a resident of Whitney since 1998.

An avid quilter, Juanita also loved to crochet and do crafts. She was a member of the Bluebonnet Arts and Crafts in Laguna Park, doing charity work for hospitals and nursing homes. She was of the Morman faith.

Preceding her in death were her parents and husband, James Winford Brown, Sr. on June 27, 2000.

Survivors include her two children, James Brown, Jr. of Whitney and Becky Brown of Waco; two sisters, Josephine Kirksey and husband, John, of Whitney and Virginia Maria Hardin and husband, Jimmy, of Arlington; half-brother, Ricardo Cortez of Virginia; granddaughter, Maddison Brown of Whitney; nephew, Justin Beck of Arlington; two nieces, Crystal Grenier and Paula Cortz, both of Virginia; and numerous cousins.
