Juanita Stiff

Juanita Sue Johnson Stiff passed away on Wednesday, August 08, 2012, after a long-fought battle with Alzheimer's disease. Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, August 25, 2012, at Marshall & Marshall Funeral Directors Chapel in Hillsboro with Rev. Donna Ware officiating.

Sue was born in Hillsboro, Texas on May 23, 1930 to William Carrol and Cecil Irene Johnson. She graduated from Hillsboro High School in 1947 and received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Baylor University in 1950. After graduating from Baylor, she married Robert Sterling Stiff, also of Hillsboro, on August 21, 1950, and they were married for 36 years until his death in 1986. They had two children, Carol Ann Stiff Walling of Rosharon, Texas and Gary Allen Stiff of Arlington, Texas. In 1989, Sue married Carlisle Evans Hood of Irving, Texas and enjoyed 15 years of marriage until his death in 2005.

Sue began her teaching career in 1950 and retired from Arlington ISD after 28 years of teaching. Her passions included painting, cooking, traveling, gardening and flying her Cessna 172. She is survived by her children, Carol and Gary, and her grandchildren, Max Walling and his wife, Kristina of Lincoln, Nebraska and Sam Walling of Friendswood, Texas.
