Judy Harvey

Judy Harvey, 72, of Hillsboro passed away Monday evening, September 4, 2017, at Hardeman County Memorial Hospital in Quanah. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, September 8, 2017, at Ridge Park Cemetery in Hillsboro with Pastor Dave Treat of First Presbyterian Church in Vernon officiating. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday, September 7, at Marshall & Marshall Funeral Directors in Hillsboro.

Born May 29, 1945 in Waco, she was the daughter of Alva Lee and Mildred (Alexander) Harwell. She grew up in Bynum, graduated from Bynum High School, and received her Bachelors degree in Education from Baylor University. She also did graduate work at Tarelton State University. Following her college years, Judy moved back to Hillsboro where she taught in elementary school for 22 years. She also taught for one year at Shepherd ISD and retired from teaching after eight years at Venus ISD.

Judy was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Hillsboro, Delta Kappa Gamma, and Monday Review Club in Hillsboro for many years. A very talented quilter, she participated with the ladies at First United Methodist Church in Hillsboro where they made items for children in CPS and orphanages. She loved to shop for antiques and bird watch. A dedicated supporter of Hill County Paw Pals, Judy would always collect aluminum cans to recycle and donate the proceeds to this organization that was dear to her.

Preceding her in death were her parents. Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter, Lea Ann Huse and husband, Billy, of Chillicothe; and three grandchildren, Mason Huse, Madison Huse, and Katelynn Huse, all of Chillicothe.
