June Tucker


June Tucker, 89, of Hillsboro passed away Thursday morning October 16, 2014, at Baylor Scott & White Hillcrest Medical Center in Waco. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, October 18, 2014, at First Baptist Church in Hillsboro with Dr. Howard Daniel officiating. Burial will follow at Bold Springs Cemetery near West. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Friday, October 17, 2014, at Marshall & Marshall Funeral Directors in Hillsboro.

June was born November 8, 1924 in Lott, TX to Elmer Caleb and Sally Mae (Moore) Goodman. She was a graduate of West High School, Southwest Teacher’s College in San Marcos, and taught at Abbott ISD. On July 16, 1945, she was united in marriage to R. D. “Dick” Tucker. In 1953, June and Dick moved to Hillsboro where they founded Tucker Lumber Company.

June will be remembered by her children and grandchildren as the ultimate homemaker. She enjoyed cooking, reading, traveling, and treasured her time with friends.

She was an active member of First Baptist Church in Hillsboro, Hillsboro Garden Club, and was a Life Member of Sesame Club. Preceding her in death were her parents and a sister, Connie Vickery.

Survivors include her husband of 69 years, R. D. “Dick” Tucker of Hillsboro; three children, Sheryl Bech and husband, Douglas, of Houston and Bill Tucker and wife, Audrey, and Bob Tucker and wife, Jan, all of Hillsboro; sister, Beth Bailey of San Angelo; 7 grandchildren, Kristen Hatton and husband, Peter, Allison Cunningham and husband, Sean, Carson Tucker and wife, Mika, Hayley Hurunui and husband, Kao, Denton Tucker and wife, Leeann, Brandon Tucker and wife, Stephanie, and Bradley Tucker and wife, Tabetha; 12 great-grandchildren, Rebecca Hatton, David Hatton, Jonathan Hatton, Cate Cunningham, Linley June Cunningham, Margaret Cunningham, Quinn Tucker, Tareec Hurunui, Brylee Tucker, Blaire Tucker, Landon Tucker, and Callie Tucker.

Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church Christian School, P. O. Box 271, Hillsboro, TX 76645.
