Katherine Maxine Roeder, 74, of Hillsboro, Texas, passed into the loving arms of her Savior on Tuesday, October 1, 2024, at Baylor Scott & White Medical Center-Hillcrest in Waco, Texas. Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Tuesday, October 8, 2024, at Marshall & Marshall Funeral Directors in Hillsboro. Funeral service will take place at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, October 9, 2024, at Marshall & Marshall. Burial will follow the service at Ridge Park Cemetery in Hillsboro.
Maxine was born on April 10, 1950, in Whitney, Texas, to Wesley Webb Shaw and Jessie Lorene (Ince) Shaw. She graduated from Whitney High School in 1968. Maxine was united in marriage to Kenneth Roeder on August 14, 1971. Together, they raised two daughters, Tamara Stelzl, of Hillsboro, and Susan Whitener, of Waxahachie, Texas.
She worked as a homemaker most of her life and was also employed at Gold Nugget Pawn Shop in Hillsboro for several years. Maxine enjoyed attending church at Abiding Life in Whitney, where she was a member for many decades. She had sweet and outgoing spirit, as well as a wonderful laugh. She had an incredible gift of making people feel loved and accepted as she would instantly hug and wrap you in a loving embrace and say she loved you over and over.
Maxine was preceded in death by her parents, Wesley and Lorene; her husband, Kenneth; her brothers, Audrey Shaw and Fred Shaw; and her sister, Helen Erwin. She is survived by her daughters, Tamara and Susan; her grandchildren, Jaron Whitener, Jordan Stelzl, Raven Buck, Logan Hodges, and Braden Hodges; her great-grandchildren, Nolan, Thea, Oliver, and Raelyn Stelzl, and Noah Buck; her brother, Chesley Shaw; and her sisters, Nellie Molidor, Lometa Edwards, and Linda Everly.
