Kathleen Frances "Kathy" Blount

Kathleen Frances “Kathy” Blount, 82, of Stamford, formerly of Hillsboro, passed away Saturday, November 23, 2019, at Wisteria Place Assisted Living in Abilene.  Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 27, 2019, at Marshall & Marshall Funeral Directors Chapel in Hillsboro with Mr. Glen MacDonald officiating.  Burial will follow at Hillcrest Garden of Memory in Hillsboro.  Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 26, at the funeral home.

Kathy was born September 29, 1937, in Hillsboro to Sena Dorris (Green) and Thomas Hannibal Jackson, Jr.  A 1956 graduate of Hillsboro High School, she served as drum major of the band and was a twirler during her high school years.  On March 31, 1957, Kathy was united in marriage to Harry “Flab” Blount in Hillsboro.  She and Flab owned and operated Brand-N-Iron Western Wear Store for 27 years.  During Flab’s service to the citizens of Hillsboro as Mayor, Kathy stood by his side as a supportive wife.

Kathy began her banking career at Hillsboro Federal Savings and Loans and went through many banking changes over the years.  After more than 49 years of service in banking, she retired from Wells Fargo in 2004.  She was a member of the Business and Professional Women’s Club.

In her spare time, Kathy enjoyed traveling and taking tours with many of her bank customers.  She also enjoyed making porcelain dolls, cooking, decorating, and she especially loved putting the big Christmas tree up at the bank.  She as an avid animal lover, especially her two pet dogs.

She was an active and faithful member of Hillsboro Church of Christ.

Preceding her in death were her parents and husband, Flab Blount, on December 12, 2015.

Survivors include her daughter, Becky Blount of Stamford; brother, Mickey Jackson and wife, Barbara, of Frisco; sister, Sue Bruce and husband, Jimmy, of Abbott; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

The family would like to give a special thanks to Kinder Hearts Hospice, Wisteria Place Staff, and caretakers, Della Owen and Berlene Belcher, for all of the love and care given to Kathy.
