Kathleen "Kathleen "Kitty" Mcilroy" Mcilroy

Kathleen “Kitty” McIlroy, 85, of McAllen passed away October 29, 2011 in a McAllen hospital. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM, Tuesday, November 1, 2011 at the Marshall & Marshall Funeral Directors Chapel in Hillsboro with Mr. Barry Jordan officiating. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Garden of Memory near Hillsboro. Visitation will be from 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM on Tuesday prior to the service at the funeral home.

Kitty was born on January 15, 1926 in Hattiesburg, MS to John L. and Fannie Elizabeth (Gardner) Fiveash, Sr. She grew up in Mississippi and on December 10, 1947 married James A. McIlroy, Sr. in Biloxi. The couple met while he was stationed at Keesler Air Force Base in Biloxi. They lived in many locations prior to his retirement in 1964 when they settled in Vaughan. While living in Waco, James preceded her in death in 1967. She later lived in a number of Central Texas communities including Gatesville and the Killeen area. For the past seven years, she had resided in McAllen with her son.

She enjoyed fishing, and also loved to travel with her friends. She attended the Live Oak Baptist Church in Gatesville. Also preceding her in death were her parents; daughter, Patricia Dossett; infant son, Frank Lewis McIlroy; two grandsons, Joe Gugliotta and Jimmy McIlroy; and six siblings.

Survivors include her sons, James A. McIlroy, Jr. and wife, Gina of McAllen and Richard E. McIlroy and wife, Maria of Mansfield; brother, John L. Fiveash, Jr. of Dothan, AL; 15 grandchildren, Skip, Jim, Joe, Charles, Donna, Danna, Brandi, Misty, Jimmy, Fritz, Chuck, Jodie, Shelley, Alex, and Samantha; 26 great grandchildren; 4 great-great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
