Kathleen Ellen (Mohnson) Raby

Kathleen Raby, beloved Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, Grandmother by association, loving friend and confidant passed away on August 25, 2023. Kathleen, better known as Gamms, was born June 24, 1947, in Los Angeles, California. While Hollywood was definitely a match for her charm and spirit, she left the big city lights and after a while settled down in Hillsboro, Texas.

Gamms- a woman who loved well and was well-loved; was a strong woman of faith, not only was her faith unwavering but she also found great joy in making sure others had the opportunity to know Christ the way she did. Whether it was bringing people to church, teaching at vacation bible school, singing in the choir or volunteering, she made it her mission to serve. While the embodiment of encouragement, grace and kindness, she was also sharp as a tack, astute and well versed in witty banter that would keep even the best of them on their toes. She was spirited and fiery, much like the red hair she was known for.

Gamms’ other interests included spending time with her animals, puzzles, cooking, baking, sewing, collecting knick knacks and watching hours and hours of westerns, specifically Gunsmoke with her son, Frank and granddaughter, Amanda. Not only did she manage the aforementioned while simultaneously serving as the most gracious, loving mom and the best, funniest and most encouraging grandmother ever, but she also found time to go back to school well into her 50’s and obtained her bachelor’s in psychology from the University of the Rockies in hopes of finding even more ways to help others. Her wisdom and compassion knew no bounds and there was/is constant inspiration found in how she lived, learned, led and loved. She was the rock of her family and will be truly missed.

Kathleen’s ashes will be spread privately by immediate family.
