Kenneth Counts

Kenneth Counts, 81, of Cleburne died Tuesday, August 19, 2008, at Wren House in Cleburne. Kenneth was born December 23, 1926 in Hill County, Texas, where he lived most of his life, the son of Clarry and Birdie Laurence Counts. He graduated from Hillsboro High School and attended Hillsboro Junior College and Texas A&M's cotton classifying school. On June 3, 1949 he married Carolyn Giles and she preceded him in death on May 2, 1997. During WWII, he served his country in the U. S. Navy. For a number of years he worked in the cotton business for the Esteve Brothers, and later as a salesman at Texas Power & Light, before joining Texas Farm Bureau for over 25 years. An avid golfer, he served as a golf coach at Hill College. He was a member of West Hill Church of Christ in Cleburne and Hillsboro Masonic Lodge #196. Also preceding him in death were his parents and a sister, Betty Jo Davis. Survivors include a daughter, Angela Hazelip and husband, Pat, of Plano; two brothers, Henry Counts and wife, Marinelle, of Cleburne, and Ben Counts and wife, Becky, of Arlington; sister-in-law, Helen Giles Buie of Hillsboro; three grandsons, Patrick, Andrew, and Philip Hazelip all of Plano; two nieces, Cheryl Counts Bailey and Cheryl Buie Lewis; and best friend, Jean Dollar Triplett of Cleburne.
