Kenneth Durant

Kenneth Ray “Tut” Durant, 75, of Itasca passed away Tuesday, June 7, 2016, at his residence. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, June 13, at Marshall & Marshall Funeral Directors Chapel in Hillsboro with Rev. Gene Farquhar and Rev. Jonathan Bowman co-officiating. Burial will follow at Itasca Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 7:00-9:00 p.m. Sunday, June 12, at the funeral home.

Kenneth was born March 8, 1941 in Itasca to Freeland and Juanita (Shine) Durant. He was raised in Itasca and graduated from Itasca High School in 1959. On June 10, 1961, he was united in marriage to Brenda Turner in Itasca. For approximately 20 years, he was employed at Miller Brewing Company in Fort Worth. He later went to work for ICX Trucking in Fort Worth and then became a self-employed truck driver until his retirement. Family was his life and he loved attending his grandchildren’s sporting events. He enjoyed watching game shows on TV. Kenneth was a member of First Baptist Church in Itasca.

Preceding him in death were his parents; daughter, Vicki Durant; and two sisters, Jessie Napps and Gladys Hall.

Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Brenda Durant of Itasca; three daughters, Kim Abbott and husband, Jason, of Hillsboro and Penny Faries and husband, Donny, and Missy Kelley and husband, Brian, all of Itasca; two sisters, Lilly Basye and husband, Billy, of Covington and Kay Jordan of Cleburne; six grandchildren, Nicole Lee and husband, Nick, Brandon Kelley, Chelsae Faries, Samantha Faries, Travis Abbott, and Ayden Abbott; one great-grandson, Micah Lee and one great-grandchild on the way; aunt, Bonnie Ward; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends.
