Keven Glen “Scooter” Wright passed away peacefully December 17, 2023, at his home in Whitney with his wife by his side. Keven was born in Stephenville, Texas, June 5, 1969, to Henry Ernest Wright and Donna Colleen Wilson.
Keven grew up working concrete with his dad and his dad’s brothers. Eventually it was just he and his dad in the company in the Whitney area. Ernest would tell anyone around that Scooter was the best concrete finisher in six counties. Growing up, Keven learned about fishing and hunting from Ernest. They put out trotlines and limb lines in the rivers around Whitney. Hunting at “the farm” in west Texas was a great memory for him. There is hardly a honky tonk from Fort Worth to Waco that he didn’t “scoot a boot” and he loved every minute of that time.
He is preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Lisa Beth Walter. Survivors include his loving wife of twenty-three years, Devery; his children, James Gouldman, Morgan Smith-Wright, Kristin Austin, Jaron Wright and Collin Wright; his beloved niece, Mikaila Kaiser; his nephew, Brody Walter; nine grandchildren; one great niece; and many friends.
A visitation and memorial service will take place on Saturday, January 13, 2024. Visitation will start at 1:00 pm and the memorial service will start at 2:00 pm, at Peoria Community Center in Peoria, Texas. All who knew and loved Scooter are welcome to join us.
