Kevin Jay Tidwell, Sr., 51, of Hillsboro passed away in Hillsboro on Wednesday, January 8, 2020, as a result of a car accident. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 11, 2020, at Marshall & Marshall Funeral Directors Chapel in Hillsboro with Brother Gary Bridges and Pastor Danny Gilliam officiating. Burial will follow at Peoria Cemetery. Visitation with family and friends will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Friday, January 10, at the funeral home.
Kevin was born November 26, 1968, in Hillsboro, the son of Glenn K. (Corky) and Nelda Lewis Tidwell. He was a 1988 graduate of Hillsboro High School. He married Lilia Lara on November 26, 1997, in Cd. Victoria, Tamaulipas, Mexico. For 25 years, he was in the seamless guttering business. At the time of his death, Kevin was employed by Gate Precast Company in Hillsboro where he loved and was loved by his co-workers. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Hillsboro.
An avid NASCAR fan, his Sunday afternoons were spent watching the race on TV or attending the event at Texas Motor Speedway. He enjoyed his conflicts with his own Dallas Cowboys family during an NFL game involving the Philadelphia Eagles, his favorite team. Kevin also enjoyed fishing and working on cars. His best pal was his dog Tucker.
Kevin will be dearly missed and our lives will be empty without him.
Kevin was preceded in death by grandparents, Billy and Kitty Tidwell; maternal grandparents, Auldin and Sylvado Erwin Lewis; aunt, June Lewis; sister-in-law, Judy Lara-de Garcia; and father-in-law, Juan Lara Obregon.
Kevin is survived by his children, Gabrielle (Gabby), a student of Hardin-Simmons University in Abilene, Kevin Jay (KJ), a Hillsboro High School senior, and Michelle (Missy), a Hillsboro Junior High 7th grader, and his wife, Lilia. Also surviving are his father, Corky Tidwell; his mother, Nelda Tidwell; brother, Kirk Tidwell and wife, Katrina; sister, Tonya Tidwell; cousin, Kimberly Lewis (Adam) Irwinsky; one niece and four nephews; uncle and aunts, Hal Tidwell, Kristi (Ross) Taylor, and Kelly Tidwell. Surviving in Mexico are his mother-in-law, Bertha Vazquez de Lara; 7 sisters-in-law; 8 brothers-in-law; 20 nieces/nephews-in-law. Several cousins and numerous friends also survive. Sincere appreciation is extended to Glenn and Jennifer Pittman, Judge Bob McGregor and Judge Kenneth Davis for their influence, love and support during the past several years.
