Kim "Sunshine" Nelson Pack


Kim Elaine “Sunshine” Nelson Pack, of Gholson, passed away peacefully after a short battle with cancer in Whitney on Monday, November 18, 2013. Memorial services will be held Saturday, November 23, 2013, at 10:00 am at Marshall and Marshall Funeral Directors Chapel in Whitney with Reverend Nathan Stone of Waco officiating.

Sunshine was born May 26, 1959, in Lawrence, Kansas, and moved to Whitney on January 12, 1972. She graduated from Whitney High School in 1977 and attended one year at Texas State University in San Marcos before moving to Lawrence, Kansas. In 1979 she moved back to Whitney and went to work in Hillsboro where she made friends that are still friends today. She married John Bean in the early 80’s and was married for 10 years. She worked in Waco for 15 years and met Bruce Pack at that time. Sunshine and Bruce were married in 1995 and resided in Whitney. In 2003 they moved to Gholson, and from 2003 until 2013 she worked in Waco and volunteered at Fuzzy Friends Rescue animal shelter. Sunshine never met a stranger and lit up a room when she walked in. Her smile was infectious and she was loved by everyone.

She was preceded in death by her nephew Dakota Sinclair.

She left behind her loving family of Whitney - parents, Pat Nelson and Bill and Jean Nelson; brothers, Terry Nelson and wife, Leigh, of Houston and Harold Sinclair and wife, Susan, of Whitney; sisters, Loretta Sharp of Burleson and Donna Lummus of Whitney; three nephews, one niece, three great -nephews and two great- nieces; and her cat Max.

The family requests that memorials be made to Fuzzy Friends Rescue, 6321 Airport Rd., Waco, TX 76702 or Odyssey Hospice, 510 N. Valley Mills Dr., Waco, TX 76710.
