L. David Harrison of Whitney, Texas, left this life on May 26, 2012 after a lengthy illness. He was 72 years old. He died at home from complications arising from an organ transplant and cancer.
Born September 12, 1939 in Wichita Falls, Texas, Mr Harrison moved to Fort Worth, Texas in 1957. He attended Paschal High School and Texas Christian University where he received a Bachelors Degree in Commerce in 1962. While At TCU, he joined the Sigma Chi Fraternity and held the Office of Treasurer and was the Treasurer of the Student Body. He was also a graduate of the Southern Graduate School of Banking at Southern Methodist University.
After graduation from college, Mr. Harrison pursued his Certified Public Accountant license and took a professional interest in the banking industry. His talent for business and accounting helped him rise quickly up the corporate ladder; serving as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer for several prominent banks during the 70's and 80's. He eventually established his own financial consulting firm and stayed active in the banking and investment community until his retirement.
Other accomplishments and memberships include the American Institute of CPAs, Texas Society of CPAs, and teaching in the Graduate Schools of Business at TCU and SMU. He was a past President and Director of the Financial Executives Institute where he served on all committees. He was also a member of the Texas Society of CPAs, the Dallas Chapter of CPAs, and the American Institute of CPAs.
Mr Harrison had many interest, but his passion was photography. His photo files include thousands of original negatives and several award winning prints. He remained a serious student of this hobby until his death. In addition to photography, David was an avid reader and cook.
Mr. Harrison was preceded in death by his parents V.C. Harrison and Kathlyn (Brown) Harrison and by his grandson, Ryan Harrison. He is survived by his beloved wife of 35 years, Randy Lou (Hall) Harrison, and his three children and his 8 grandchildren.
Children: Lexi (Harrison) Reynolds and husband, Gary; Christine (Harrison) Woodson, Douglas Harrison and wife, Rachel.
Grandchildren: Collin Reynolds, Madison Reynolds, Ethan Booth, Kay Woodson, Emily Harrison, Emma Woodson, William David Harrison, and Jacob Harrison.
Mr Harrison requested that no funeral service or memorial service be held; however, a Celebration of Life party will be scheduled at a later date.
