L.D. Huffstutler, 84, of Whitney, passed away on January 20, 2014, at a Dallas hospital. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM, Friday, Janaury 24, 2014, at the Marshall and Marshall Funeral Directors Chapel in Whitney with Dr. Carl Jennings,First Baptist Church of Whitney, officiating. Burial will follow at 2:30 PM at Restland Memorial Park, 13005 Greenville Avenue in Dallas. Visitation will be from 6:30 - 8:30 PM, Thursday, January 23, 2014 at the funeral home.

L.D. was born in Dallas on March 1, 1929, to Leonard and Sally (Cowart) Huffstutler. He worked for Southwestern Bell in Dallas as an installer before retiring at 34 years with AT&T. During the Korean Conflict, he served his country in the United States Army.

On November 11, 1966, he married Dorothy Deneen (Watson) Huffstutler in Dallas. As a couple, they enjoyed hunting and fishing together as well as RV traveling. One pastime he enjoyed was splitting wood with a log splitter. He loved God and his church family very much and was a very faithful and active member of First Baptist Church where he was a member of the Truth Finders Sunday school class.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Betty; his parents, Leonard and Sally Huffstutler; and stepson, Douglas Golden.

He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Deneen Huffstutler of Whitney; children, Lamar Huffstutler of Dallas, Sally Brantley of Austin, Kenny Huffstutler and wife, Jordan, of Lewisville; daughter-in-law, Glenda Golden of Hubbard; step-son, Robert Golden and wife, Tammy, of Fort Worth, brother Truett Huffstutler of Holly Lake, sister Laverne La Quey and husband, Buddy, of Irving; five grandchildren, Grayson and Katy Brantley, Clayton Golden, Cooper Huffstutler, and Reese Huffstutler; three step-grandchildren, Brian Golden, Kristie Lansdale and Blake Golden; two nieces and two nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Baptist Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 426, Whitney, TX 76692, or the charity of one’s choice.
