L D “Sonny” Jackson, 70, of Hillsboro passed away Tuesday, May 8, 2012, at his residence. Masonic graveside services will be held at Noon on Friday, May 11, 2012, at Ridge Park Cemetery in Hillsboro with Mr. John Milburn officiating. Visitation will be from 9-11 a.m. Friday at Marshall & Marshall Funeral Directors in Hillsboro.

L D was born December 21, 1941 in Big Spring and grew up there and in Lamesa. Following graduation from Flower Grove High School in 1960, he farmed until 1967. In 1967, L D moved to Seattle, WA where he married Marilyn Maxwell on July 2 of that same year. While living in Seattle, he started the Electrical Apprenticeship School. The couple moved to Lubbock in September 1970, where he became a Journeyman Wireman in July 1972. They later moved to Texarkana in 1979, where L D joined the Masonic Lodge. In 1982, they moved to Hillsboro and he retired in 1992. After his retirement, L D went back to work for Town Square Furniture until 1998, then Hill County Precinct #4 until April 29, 2011, and lastly for Hillsboro ISD retiring in October, 2011. He was of the Baptist faith.

Preceding him in death were his father, Lonnie Lee Jackson; son, Lloyd Paul Jackson; and sister, Wanda Carstensen.

Survivors include his wife, Marilyn Jackson of Hillsboro; mother, Louise Smith of Big Spring; daughter, Julia Grantom of Hillsboro; brother, Jimmy Mayes of Big Spring; and two grandchildren, Joshua Jackson and James Grantom both of Hillsboro.
