Memorial services for LaFrey Keathley Wooldridge, 88, of Hillsboro will be held 1:00 pm Thursday, July 19, 2012, at Marshall & Marshall Funeral Directors Chapel in Hillsboro with Rev. Donna Ware officiating. Her cremains will be inurned at the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery at a later date.
LaFrey Keathley Wooldridge was born December 8, 1923 in Frost, Texas, the first child of Louella and Henter Keathley. She grew up in Troup, Texas and moved with her family to Dallas where she attended North Dallas High School. She was the new kid in the neighborhood, a beauty, and Ralph Wooldridge was determined to be the first to meet her. He succeeded in winning her heart and they married in February, 1942. Their first child, LaDena Rhea was born in 1943. Richard Keathley followed in 1948 and Teresa Anne in 1950. LaFrey was a loving and dedicated mother whose life revolved around her family.
As a life long Methodist, she found many places to act on her faith. U.M.W., church socials and bible studies benefitted from her participation and leadership.
She was a charming hostess with the natural ability to put everyone at ease. Her elegant grace was perfectly suited for the life of a corporate wife.
LaFrey and Ralph enjoyed belonging to the Denton Ski Club. She also loved to travel and dance with her husband, Bob Ralph.
In 1975, Bob and LaFrey bought their first Airstream and quickly became enthusiastic caravaners. For 30 years, they explored North America, enjoying the wonders and making lasting friends along the way. They attended many rallies and did volunteer work at several state parks.
We will all miss her gentle kindness and sweet smile.
Preceding her in death were her parents; daughter, Teresa Wooldridge Rogers; and two sisters, Billie Joyce Johnson and Mauricia Lou Fugitt.
She is survived by her husband of 70 years, Bob Ralph Wooldridge; daughter LaDena Humphries; son Keath Wooldridge; brother, Darrell Hunter Keathley and wife, Beverly; 5 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
