Laneda Walker

LaNeda Anne Burch Walker, 81, of Arlington, formerly of Whitney, passed away Monday, February 20, 2017, at a local care facility in Arlington. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, February 24, 2017, at Marshall & Marshall Funeral Directors Chapel in Whitney with Rev. Barron Harris officiating. Burial will follow at Whitney Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 10:00-11:00 a.m. prior to service time.

Anne was born on December 29, 1935 and lived her younger years in the Webb Community. After graduating from Arlington High School in 1953, she began her career with Arlington State Bank, then Six Flags over Texas and Seven Seas.

She married the love of her life, Tommy Walker, on March 9, 1957. They made their home and worked in Arlington until 1987 when they retired and moved to Hill County. Tommy became Hill County Judge, while Anne became an avid volunteer for her church, First Baptist-Whitney, and numerous other local charities. The greatest interest of those being the restoration of the Hill County Courthouse. Anne was full of love and kindness and loved all kinds of parties and celebrations.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Garland and Georgia Anne Power Burch; sister, Romana (Charles) English; husband, Tommy Walker; and sister-in-law, Sue (Lawrence) Coleman.

Survivors include her son, Brian Ray Walker of Cayuga; sister, Joyce Benedict of Boulder, CO; brother, Ivan Burch (Priscilla) and sister-in-law, Sharon Blakney (Jeff), all of Arlington; three nephews; two nieces; and several great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 1700 Lake Success Drive, Waco, TX 76710, Freedom Hospice, 1907 Ascension, Suite 200, Arlington, TX 76006, or charity of choice.
