Lanny Ray Cox

Lanny Ray Cox, 77, of Itasca, Texas, passed away Wednesday, January 15, 2025, in Itasca. A visitation will take place from 3:00 to 5:00 PM, Monday, January 20, 2025, at Marshall and Marshall Funeral Directors in Hillsboro.

Lanny Ray was born November 24, 1947, in Cleburne, Texas, to Nathan and Ella Marie (Owens) Cox. He served in the United States navy, serving on the U.S. carrier Hancock. Lanny Ray later earned his pilot's license and taught flying lessons for several years. He also provided crop dusting services and was active in motocross with his son, Lanny Ray, II. In addition to flying lessons, he also served as a substitute teacher in public schools. His passions were flying and computers.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Nathan and Ella Cox; and his son, Lanny Ray Cox, II. Survivors include his brother, James Robert Cox; two grandsons; two granddaughters and several nieces and nephews.
