Lanny Gene Wood a true servant of the Lord passed from this world to his heavenly home April 25, 2021.

Lanny was born in Commerce, Texas March 1, 1939 to Louis Leon and Maudine Cloninger Wood.

In 1957 he married the love of his life Judith Ann Heffner. They had 3 children, Cindy, Lanny Jr. (Bubba) and Jody.

He served in the United States Marine Corps from 1958 to 1961. During that time, he was a military advisor in Vietnam,

He accepted Jesus as his savior January 1, 1971 as the direct result of the Bus Ministry at Joy Baptist Temple Fort Worth, Texas. Never looking back, he and his wife surrendered to the mission field in Brazil. Promptly beginning seminary at the Bible Baptist Seminary/Arlington Baptist College at Arlington, Texas. Graduating in record time they then landed in Brazil in 1974 and there they remained until his passing in 2021. Forty-Seven Years of service to our Lord in the country of Brazil

He was preceded in death by his parents Louis and Maudine Wood, Sister Marita Phenix, Brother Dwayne Wood, Niece Angela (Tally) Hatch and Great Grandson Bennett Harris.

He is Survived by his wife of 63 years Judy, Daughter Cindy and Husband Ed Evers, Sons; Lanny Jr. and Wife Kelly, Jody and Wife Adriane. Six Grandchildren; Mike, David and Robert Evers, Philip and Beatriz Wood and Shelly Kissinger and Shelby Harris and 5 great grandchildren. A host of nieces, nephews, the Heffner family and life-long friends William and Gail Morris, Wendell and Sue Sanders.

His burial will be at the DFW National Cemetery 2000 Mountain Creek Parkway, July 6, 2021 11:00 A.M. Private family ceremony. With a celebration of his life to be held the same day beginning 3:00 P.M. at the Joshua Baptist Church 3231 Wilshire Blvd. Burleson, TX.
