Larry Fred Cryts

Larry F. Cryts, October 29, 1941-June 28,2023, 81 years old

Larry Fred Cryts was born on October 29, 1941, in Dudley, Missouri, to Fred and Irene Cryts, the youngest of four children.  He shared many adventures with his siblings growing up while learning the value of hard work and perseverance with a little fun sprinkled in.  Larry married and moved to Texas in 1961, finding a home in Arlington while working at General Motors, and started his family.  He greeted his first two children, Kevin and Tami.  He divorced, remarried, and welcomed his third child, Cody.  Larry started calling Covington home in 1984.  Once single again, he was blessed to meet the beautiful and talented Carolyn who he married in 1988 and spent the rest of his life with.  His love for Carolyn extended to her four children who he loved as his own.  They made homes in Covington, Itasca, and finally Woodbury.  Larry worked in a few fields before settling in as a security officer at Lockheed Martin for many years until his retirement.  He made several lifelong friends along the way.

Larry was a generous, loving, and joyful husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather.  He loved the outdoors and enjoyed tinkering in his shed, fishing, working in his vegetable garden, and simply relaxing on the porch or patio.  Though he never had formal training, Larry was an accomplished carpenter who could build almost anything.  He built barns to house horses and pigs, fences to keep in his cattle, sheds to have as his man caves, and lots of decks and porches over the years.  He was creative and able to make something out of nothing with whatever materials he could get his hands on.

Larry was a collector of many things, some valuable, some...not so much, but he had such fun acquiring all kinds of "stuff."  He was a great storyteller with comedian-worthy timing and delivery.  He loved to make people laugh with his wit and humor.  He was always quick with a helping hand for family, friends, and neighbors.  Larry never wanted anyone to go home hungry, and he and his amazing wife Carolyn made sure that never happened.  He rarely let visiting family leave their home empty-handed, whether it was vegetables from his garden, food Carolyn had prepared, or one of his many collectibles.

Larry went to be with the Lord on June 28, 2023, following his sweet wife Carolyn by mere hours.  He joins his parents and brother Jerry in paradise.  Larry is survived by his sister Jean Jackson and brother Billy Cryts; son Kevin Cryts, daughter Tami Slater and husband Steve, son Cody Cryts and wife April, stepdaughter Paula Farquhar and husband Doug, stepdaughter Michelle Sulak and husband Darrell, stepson Daryl Harrison and wife Janelle, stepdaughter Kristen Tidwell and husband Jason; grandchildren Brandy Cryts, Brandon Cryts, Lyndsie Slater, Emma Slater, Bailey Cryts, KayDee Cryts, Brylee Cryts, Leslie Slovak and husband Kyle, Tyler Crow, Joshua Solis, Alexander Solis, Tristan Sulak, Samuel Sulak, Isaac Harrison, Brazos Tidwell, Nolan Tidwell, Trinity Tidwell; great grandchildren Riley Slovak, Blakely Slovak, Montana Tidwell; and many nieces and nephews.  He will be deeply missed.
