Larry Lynn Stoker
December 14, 1943 - January 14, 2021
Larry passed from this life to eternity, comfortably and peacefully with his wife Carolyn by his side on the evening of Thursday, January 14, 2021.
A Celebration of Life memorial service will be held on Saturday March 27, 2021 at 2pm at Grace City Church, located at 1945 Old Brandon Road in Hillsboro, Tx.
Larry was a warm and loving husband, a remarkable father to four daughters, and will be remembered by all as a principled and hardworking man of integrity. Larry believed beyond doubt that Jesus Christ is Lord, and that each day spent on earth was another day to seek and serve the Lord, and to help anyone in need.
Larry was born just outside of Hillsboro in Mertens, Texas and graduated from Bynum High School, lettering in basketball, baseball and football. Larry was offered a college basketball scholarship, but decided his highest calling was farming. Larry married the love of his life, Carolyn (Reese) Stoker of Hillsboro, in July of 1965.
Larry served in the National Guard for 10 years.
After many years of farming, Larry trained under Bill Smith to learn detailed finish carpentry and custom home building. He maintained his own successful carpentry and custom home building business until retirement with a reputation for excellence and quality.
He is known by his family and friends as an introspective Bible study teacher at Grace City Church, an enthusiastic and spirited youth sports coach, a quiet and focused fisherman, and a man who could fix just about anything himself. He was handsome, gentle and kind, yet when watching live sporting events, he was among the top referee hecklers; perhaps of all time. Larry never met a stranger and had many friends in the local area, as well as many missionary connections across the country and internationally that were developed over a lifetime dedicated to Christ.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents Wylie Allen and Ella Mae Stoker and his brother James Stoker.
Larry is survived by his wife of 55 years Carolyn, daughters Candice Evans and husband David, Lynette Finley and partner Raymond Hearrell, Kelli Stoker and partner Marc Perlman, and Lauren Lloyd and husband Stefan; with grandchildren Jonathan, Joshua and Joanna Evans, Alex Patton and Olivia and Stella Lloyd.
Larry was a two-year resident of Homestead Nursing Home in Hillsboro, Texas where he received exceptional Alzheimer's treatment and care. The family sends their sincere thanks to the many staff and caregivers who loved Larry.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Larry to the Gideons Bible organization at Gideons.org or to the Alzheimer's organization at http://act.alz.org/goto/larrystoker
Memories and photos are welcome. Please share them on the Larry Carolyn Stoker Facebook page
