Larry Watson


Larry was born July 9, 1923 in the Prairie Valley Community of Hill County, Texas to Henry and Bertha Lightfoot Watson. He lived in Hill County all of his life, and in Hillsboro since the mid-1940s. On July 11, 1944, he married Mary Jane ?Patsy? Hensley in Hillsboro. For 43 years he worked as a wholesale grocer salesman, beginning in 1945 with the Stroud-Stell Wholesale Grocery Co. of Corsicana and retiring in 1988 from Genecov Institutional Supplies of Waco. A faithful member of First Baptist Church of Hillsboro, he was ordained a deacon on Dec. 27, 1950. He had served as an usher since August of 1949 and head usher since August of 1952. He also had been chairman of the building and grounds committee since the early 1960s. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Lyman Watson, Aaron Watson, and Ney Watson; and sister Lorraine Blood. Survivors include his wife, Patsy of Hillsboro; daughter Judy McClain and husband, Scott of Hewitt; brother, Waymon Watson and wife, Kay of Comfort; sister, Mary Morton and husband, Elwyn of Lubbock; and grandson, Andy McClain of Groves.
