Laura N. Ables, 79, of Whitney, passed away on February 2, 2020, in Waco. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 5, 2020, at Open Range Cowboy Church in Whitney with Dr. Gerald Dudley officiating. Burial will follow at Whitney Memorial Park. A visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday evening at the funeral home.
Laura was born on September 26, 1940, in Weatherford, Texas, to Walter and Lottie (Luce) Bland. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother, great-grandmother and sister. She married Billy Ables on January 1, 1958 in Valley Mills, Texas. Laura was a member of the Open Range Cowboy Church in Whitney.
Preceding her in death were her parents, Walter and Lottie Bland; a brothers, Ronnie Bland and Eugene Bland; a sister, Bernice St. John; and sons, Keith Ables and Eric Ables; and granddaughter, Hiedi Ripper.
Survivors include her husband, Billy Ables of Whitney; children, David Ables and wife, Angela of Whitney and Melissa Tennison and husband, Randy of New Summerfield; grandchildren, Stephanie Elledge of Jacksonville, Heather Adye and husband, Jeremy of Whitney, Rebecca Tennison of New Summerfield, Cassidy McPherson and husband, Jordan of Azle, Kimberly Tennison of Tyler, and Eric Ables of Whitney; eight great-grandchildren; brothers, Lonnie Bland and Johnny Bland, both of Whitney and Gary Bland and husband, Tim Felix of Dallas; daughter-in-law, Deborah Armstrong and husband, William of Emhouse, daughter-in-law, Mona Ables of Whitney and grandson-in-law, Nathan Ripper of Arlington.
